Biden's executive order gives $250K to #BlackTechFutures
BlackTechLogy: Apply for 2025 paid internship to earn $6K-$12K courtesy of the White House Office of Science and Technology
This summer, the Biden-Harris administration stood by their goal to advance tech education. In a mid-July executive order on the Safe, Trustworthy, and Responsible Development and Use of AI, President Joe Biden instructed the United States government to “pull every lever to attract and hire highly skilled talent in AI and critical and emerging technologies.”

Almost $100 million was spread out in various programs to advance public interest technology, one of which was $250K for #BlackTechFutures, a national network of Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs), city-based researchers and practitioners, and community institutions focused on local Black tech ecosystems and tech talent.
What is #BlackTechFutures?
According to the official website, #BlackTechFutures Research Institute, housed at Stillman College, an HBCU in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was created to “bridge the gap in racial tech disparity that has plagued this nation since its inception and to promote the Black innovation and joy that exist in cities across the U.S.”

Paid Internship Alert (White House Office of Science and Technology (OSTP)
On a separate but related note, an internship with the White House Office of Science and Technology (OSTP) will begin on January 27, 2025 and end on May 16, 2025.
Payment amount: Stipend of $12K (full-time)/$6K (part-time) for participation in the program.

Location: Hosted in person on the White House campus, located in Washington, D.C.
Living accommodations: Not included.
Work hours: Must be able to commit full-time (35-40 hours) or part-time (15-34 hours) per week Monday through Friday.
