Please tell Katt Williams to have a piping hot mug of STFU before speaking about VP Kamala Harris again
Regardless of Trump's anti-DEI antics about MLK Day, Juneteenth and Black History Month, IDSC will honor all of the above
There’s a saying from Malcolm X that I both (grudgingly) understand and loathe: “If you want to hide something from black people, put it in a book.” As a black woman and a bookworm, I’m offended by this statement. But as a casual observer on social media and watching entirely too many people be loud and wrong, it’s hard to discredit the icon’s statement.
It was the first thing that came to mind when I heard about what Katt Williams had to say about former Vice President Kamala Harris. The second thing I thought was this guy is going out of his way to hold a grudge against anybody with the initials “KH.”
And then there was the third thing: He’s loud and embarrassingly misinformed.
1. Katt Williams said, “Nobody voted for this bitch.” Meanwhile, Katt Williams couldn’t get 75,019,257 to support him at any comedy show even if he gave away free tickets. Right now, he has 1.6 million followers on Instagram. Vice President Kamala Harris has 19.7 million — one-quarter of the amount who voted for her. That’s a helluva lot of “nobody.”
2. Katt Williams said, “It’s one thing to get your ass whooped but you still got to come out, ma’am.”
Meanwhile, the only person who can talk shit about getting more popular votes is her boss and friend former President Joe Biden, who got 81,268,773 votes in the last election and made her his vice president.
VP Kamala Harris’ popular vote total in 2024 — I repeat, 75,019,257 — even beat out Trump’s votes of 74,216,728 in 2020. (In 2024, Trump got 77,303,568 votes — about 2 million more than her. But it took him eight years to get this. She earned more than 75 million votes in three months.)
Former President Barack H. Obama received 69,456,897 votes in 2008 over John McCain’s 59,934,814 votes.
In 2012, Obama received 65,899,660 votes over Mitt Romney’s 60,932,152.
In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote with 65,788,564 but lost the electoral college vote; Trump had 62,955,340 votes.
In 1996, former President Bill Clinton got 47,402,357 votes over Robert Dole’s 39,198,755.
3. Katt Williams said, “She didn’t even show the fuck up for her own … She left her own sorority out there in the cold.” Meanwhile, former VP Kamala Harris wasn’t running for prom queen or condo board president. Waiting until all the electoral votes release before giving a concession speech is common sense. Losing this election affected millions of people and led to what we’ve seen over the past 10 days. Additionally, she did indeed give a concession speech after finding out the results. And judging from this ginormous photograph of the former vice president on Alpha Kappa Alpha’s official website with “Congratulations on your journey,” the AKAs clearly are not salty about it.
Katt Williams said, “Women didn’t vote for her.” Black women fled X in massive numbers to go to Threads and Bluesky solely to find the 92% of each other who did vote for her. Black men, Black women and Latina women voted for her in the largest numbers. And while Asian voters didn’t vote for her in as high of numbers as they did with Biden, more than half (60%) of Asian American voters chose Harris.
And absolutely none of this is hard to find. Google doesn’t have a cover charge. It took me a solid 10 minutes to verify all of this. And it’s taking me back to the Malcolm X quote. I don’t know what’s up with a handful of rich, black men who are tap dancing away to the sound of Trump’s bigotry, but it’s even weirder in 2025 than it was in 2020. Trump salivates over people who are misinformed and who don’t read.

A few Black women are sadly doing this too. I don’t understand the indignant ignorance from Janet Jackson or even the ramblings of this lady complaining about silk presses. And that Red rapper who insists you call her “Sexxy” said — never mind. I’m burning brain cells just thinking about what she had to say.
I expect other groups to vote for Trump; they’ve consistently had a track record for doing so in every election. But I’ll never understand the appeal in a select few of us turning on politicians (and other leaders) who are trying to help us advance — financially, historically, culturally and in education. She already lost the electoral vote. Why kick her while she’s trying to recover? Even referring to VP Kamala Harris as a “bitch” is wildly disrespectful.
I’m fully comprehending why Harriet Tubman had to leave some people behind. It’s bizarre to me to hear from people who would rather honor their oppressor than stand with the person trying to help them freely celebrate their identity.

And while there are still a weird amount of my own skinfolk who just seem hell bent on getting in their own way, I’m observing DEI employees be sent home, education about the Tuskegee Experiment and women World War II vets be (temporarily) banned, and now the Defense Department’s intelligence agency pausing observances of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Pride Month, Holocaust Days of Remembrance and Juneteenth. And although I can’t put too much energy in lost causes who would rather ridicule a Black woman trying to save us from this unapologetic racism, I can’t help but wonder if this crew would even know what a book was if it fell on their heads.

This will be my last post discussing them — any of them. I can’t dedicate anymore energy to it. I will be celebrating Black History month. I will be celebrating and supporting Black business owners and products (like the one linked above from Amazon). I will damn sure be proudly honoring Juneteenth. I will continue to be as loyal to voting locally as I do nationally. I will continue to help my city stay a Blue State. And I will continue to read, read and read some more. I advise every single eligible voter to do the same. Our lives cannot rest on what a rambling comedian said on Club Shay Shay a year ago and is playing the look-at-me game again. We have real work to do.
