Ignore the racist 'joke,' expect more racism to follow
While Saquon Barkley is who racists would want to befriend, Jalen Hurts distancing himself is another way of taking a stand without arguing

Some of the primary reasons why people use dark mode on their smartphones and computer screens include the following:
Reduced eye strain in low-light environments
Reduced screen brightness and glare
Potentially saving battery life (on devices such as Organic Light-Emitting Diode or Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode screens)
Minimal blue light exposure to reduce disruptions in sleep patterns
I wish I would’ve been able to explain this on a recent virtual call. I watched someone type a few words in bright gold on a white background, and I warned him that this font color choice was going to be extremely hard to read for any viewer who was not reading his email in dark mode. Plus, sending out a work-related email with a paragraph in gold text didn’t make much sense anyway.
I barely got out the words, “Usually you see white font in dark mode but not …”
Then, he interrupted me. I couldn’t quite make out what he said. So, I started again, trying to explain the reason why people can just set their phone to dark mode and how this results in light-colored letters by default.

This time, I heard him loud and clear when he repeated, “Is that what they do on Juneteenth?”
I blinked. I stared at the speaker, who had a big smile on his face. And I responded, “Are you done?” with a straight face.
His smile fell.
But now I was curious if he even knew what Juneteenth was, so I asked him what the significance of the day was. To my surprise, he actually did have an accurate explanation for the two-year delay from the Emancipation Proclamation.

I raised an eyebrow. That made his “joke” that much more illogical — and completely unnecessary. Why is a holiday honoring the freedom of enslaved people somehow funny? And how the hell did it come up when talking about font colors?
